"We need it (writing reflections) to feel the integrity of ourselves," said Christine Logel of the University of Waterloo who conducted the research along with Geoffrey L Cohen from Stanford University, as quoted by the Times of India, Friday (01/06/2012 ).

Integrity or self-authority is needed to overcome difficult times that provide stress psychologically. If not addressed, the stress can sometimes give a physical influence in the form of uncontrolled appetite increase.

By writing a living musings, a person can rediscover his integrity so that it is not easy to experience stress psychologically. The impact will be very beneficial for people who are running a diet program to lose weight.

This theory has been proven itself by Logel and Cohen in an experiment involving 45 female students with Body Mass Index (BMI) 23 and above, 58 percent of whom are classified as overweight and obese. New IMT is normally categorized if it ranges from 18.5 to 24.9.

The participants were divided into 2 groups, one of which was asked to write a live musings for 15 minutes every night and the rest told to write anything that does not need to be contemplated. The live reflections that are written mostly contain the most memorable daily experiences.

After 4 months, the weight of the participants was again measured. Participants from the group who wrote the meditation had an average weight loss of 1.5 kg, while the group who wrote arbitrarily weight gain an average of 1.25 kg.
